Why railroad are different
Grade crossings are simultaneously a safety problem and a service problem, and they are the surface most likely to generate a call. Approach grades, sightlines and the flangeway all matter, and all of them are affected differently by a plow — which is why crossing work follows railroad rules rather than parking-lot habits.
